Love on the Spectrum

I’ve watched plenty of dating shows including fellow Netflix programs Love is Blind and Indian Matchmaking. So coming into Love on the Spectrum, I was ready to see some ridiculous personalities, unreasonable expectations, and general extremeness.

Instead, what I found were extraordinarily genuine individuals, real dating struggles, and a diverse glimpse into the world of people on the spectrum.

Although I’m not on the spectrum myself, I still related to many of the social and dating problems the cast members encountered on the show. Not knowing what to say, nervousness, having unusual interests, lacking confidence.

These are common struggles because of what society demands of us as people. Yet, being on the spectrum, these challenges become much harder to overcome. We take for granted so many things. Being able to carry on a conversation. Even just the ability to sit still.

I strongly recommend that you watch this show. And the next time you see unusual behavior in public, have some compassion and empathy. You don’t know the story behind this person.
