A Calm Sea Does Not Make a Skilled Sailor

That’s the fortune cookie we got today. I was a bit surprised that the fortune was not only serious, but actually pretty good words of wisdom.

We just came off one of, if not THE longest bull run in the stock market. And although past performances does not indicate future performances, we as investors can easily get in our heads that our skills are what’s making us money.

Just because we don’t lose money we may think that we are doing “well”. It’s important to periodically evaluate the current climate and look at our strategies.

Does our assumptions align with present conditions? Are there factors we are not considering? What new strategies should we learn and maybe explore?

Going a step further than the calm sea – if the waves are pushing you where you want to go, it doesn’t mean you’re a good navigator. Because what happens when the tides change?

Will you be ready to adapt?

Maybe I’m just reading too much into it… the Lucky Numbers on the back are 22, 44, 41, 53, 1, 16
