Measure Twice, Cut Once

My work sent me a new window tilt blinds motorization kit so install. It was accidentally sent to my mom’s house, but I picked it up this week.

I was pretty excited to try the DIY installation kit. I’m good at providing feedback. I even toyed with the idea of filming my installation.

I got out my screw drivers and measuring tape.

Then I looked at the installation guide. It has a checklist of “before you begin”

•Are your blinds 2″ to 2-1/2″ in depth, measured from front to back?

•Are your blinds made of wood, composite or imitation wood?

•Are the blinds located indoors?

•Do you raise and lower them using a cord?

So carefully take the unit off of the headrails and bring it into the living room. And then I measure it.

Uh oh, they’re 1″ blinds, not 2″ to 2-1/2″

I guess I should have found the tape measure before I accepted the sample.

Mistakes were made.

I’ll bring the unopened kit back to the office sometime this week…
