Welcome to Meetings Hell

Today’s work day consisted about 5+ hours of meetings. Not just one big meeting, it was one after another.

And the first one was with our parent company’s corporate office and it set the tone for the rest of the day. Immediately after it concluded, a manager on the call said to me that he was surprised at the level of condescending attitude toward our subsidiary.

During the call, I must not have noticed but it was true. The conversation was contentious and ended without a real resolution.

As the individual with the most experience on the project, I knew what was best to protect our subsidiary and so I made our demands clear and firm. While I listened to all points being made, there was only one path forward to protect our position.

Meetings can get crazy. They can be boring, pointless, or even straight up a waste of time.

The key is to have an objective and stick to it.
