I was in no real rush to get my vaccine, although I knew I needed to get it eventually. A few weeks ago, my wife got the Jansen (JNJ) 1 shot vaccine. Right before it was pulled from the shelves from the extremely rare but dangerous blood clot complication.
I’ll be honest, having to take time to go out and get two shots was somewhat irritating. Again, I felt no rush because there was no plans for me to come in physical contact with anyone outside of my apartment in the near future.
Regardless, my wife has been urging me to schedule mine. At the beginning of this week, the 19th of April, all adults became eligible so I no longer had an excuse to put it off.
I finally scheduled it for today at the CVS about 8 minutes from my apartment. The whole thing was extremely quick and almost painless. The doctor (I assume it was a doctor, she didn’t introduce herself but was wearing an impressive white coat) told me to wait 15 minutes after the shot to make sure I was okay.
I can only assume that was to make sure this didn’t happen:
Luckily nothing sprouted out after 15 minutes so I went home. Over the next two days we’ll see what happens as a possible fever could set in.
And then I’ll have to wait 4 weeks for my second shot.
